What kind of recovery do you need?
I've been thinking a lot lately about the word recovery.
Sometimes it's physical. Your legs are tired, your shoulders hurt, and you need everything to stop aching quite so loudly.
Sometimes it's mental. Your body is sitting on the sofa, but your brain apparently did not get the memo.
Sometimes you just feel a little depleted. Nothing is necessarily wrong. You've just given a lot of yourself away that day.
And sometimes you don't even know what you need. You just know you're done.
That's really how the four Recoverie rituals came to be.
RESTORE for the days your body needs recovery.
STILL for when your mind needs help getting quiet.
SOOTHE for the days that have taken a little more out of you.
RETURN for when you just need to come back to yourself.
They're different rituals for different kinds of tired.
Because recovery doesn't always look like doing nothing. Sometimes it's a bath. Sometimes it's an early night. Sometimes it's a shower — with a beautiful aromatherapy steamer tossed on the floor. And sometimes it's saying no to something you absolutely could do.
(I'm still working on that last one.)
Whatever it looks like today, I hope you give yourself some of it.
